Memorial Weekend

We had so much fun Memorial Weekend. We spent the time in Pocatello with my sister and her kids and my parents.

We visited the Field of Heroes Memorial at my old high school. It is a cross for every American killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan War. They also have a special section for everyone from Idaho that was killed. It is pretty powerful.

The kids walked around and read all the names and where they were from. It was good for the kids to have a sense of the impact of war and how grateful we should be for our country and those that fight to protect it!
We then went to the cemetery where both my dad's parents are buried. It was really special to have almost all of the grand kids there to see it and to hear their Papa talk about his parents.

After the cemetery we took a picnic and hiked up Red Hill to the big white pillars in the middle of ISU. I dont think I have ever hiked it before and it was awesome. It was pretty straight up but not too hard for all of the kids. When you get to the top you can see the whole city which is pretty cool.
Ready to hike!

This girl loves hikes and posing for the camera!

They made it!

Lydia and Nana almost there!

Enjoying her lunch and the view

After the hike we headed to the park. The kids played on the toys, climbed some big rocks and played a little game of soccer. They were getting pretty tired by this point but having too much fun to notice.
The fun wasnt over yet. We headed to my parents house and broke out the fire pit to have my family's favorite meal and smores of course (with homemade marshmellows. YUM)!
While we were waiting for the fire we played a game of kick the can which was a lot of fun!

Enjoying the smores
